On May 30, 2024, Ester Andreu, from Torclum, received the award in the category of Young Innovative Entrepreneur from David Mascort, the Minister of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda, and Joan Godia, the Director General of Agri-food Companies, Quality and Gastronomy of the Generalitat de Catalunya. The ceremony took place at the Biomedical Research Park in Barcelona. This recognition highlights her dedication and excellence in innovating the olive oil production process.
A Recognition of Innovation
The PITA award (Award for Technological Innovation in Agri-food) is a prestigious accolade, convened annually by the Department of Climate Action, Food, and Rural Agenda of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Its aim is to acknowledge companies and professionals in the agri-food sector who stand out for their capacity for innovation and for integrating new technologies that enhance competitiveness and sustainability.
Torclum Commits to Zero Waste
After many years of work, we are proud of our mill project, an example of innovation and sustainability. We use an innovative process that separates the pit from the pulp during olive oil production.
This pit is reused as biomass, reducing waste and contributing to cleaner energy. Moreover, we rely on solar energy to power our facilities, thereby reducing our carbon footprint and promoting sustainable production.
