Torclum has joined the manifesto of the World Region of Gastronomy – Catalonia 2025, an initiative aimed at positioning Catalonia as a global reference in the field of gastronomy.
This commitment reflects our dedication to promoting the territory, culinary tradition, identity, sustainability, and innovation—values we fully embrace.
Catalonia will be the World Region of Gastronomy in 2025, becoming the first European region to receive this distinction. The World Region of Gastronomy initiative is led by the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts, and Tourism (IGCAT), a non-profit organization that has been working with consortia of regional entities and stakeholders in gastronomy, culture, arts, and tourism since 2010.
This manifesto of the World Region of Gastronomy – Catalonia 2025 is based on ten key points:
- Territory: We promote gastronomic heritage and agri-food landscapes, fostering their social, environmental, and economic sustainability. We aim to contribute to the cohesion and dynamization of the entire Catalan territory.
- Tradition: Catalan cuisine, with its unique blend of tradition and innovation, is a defining element of our country. We seek to highlight our food system, based on the richness and diversity of our products, as well as quality and responsibility.
- Identity: We work to recognize the entire value chain, from farmers and fishermen to chefs and restaurants, highlighting the uniqueness of Catalan gastronomy and its contribution to the world.
- Regenerative Tourism: We advocate for a model of wine and gastronomic tourism that is regenerative and of high quality, bringing value to the community and rooted in the territory.
- Culture: We want the citizens of Catalonia to become advocates and consumers of local products, recognizing the efforts of our producers and working to improve associated infrastructure and services.
- Internationalization: We promote the professionalization of the sector to continue expanding Catalan gastronomy internationally, raising awareness of our products and culinary traditions.
- Innovation: We encourage collaboration between public organizations and actors in the value chain to enhance the competitiveness of our products.
- Sustainability: We promote a circular economy, combating food waste, and extending the product life cycle.
- Excellence: We are inspired by the gastronomic revolution started by Ferran Adrià and other great chefs, seeking new forms of innovation in the gastronomic experience.
- Social Commitment: We advocate for the health and well-being of people, especially through healthy eating.
By joining this initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to the values that define Catalan gastronomy and our determination to contribute to a sustainable and innovative future for the sector. We will continue working with passion to offer products of the highest quality while valuing our territory, tradition, and identity.
